AMEYA - AMAZE project for Mentoring and Empowerment of Young Adults
Vision - to tap into the boundless potential of neurodiverse adolescents and help themdiscover their interests and abilities and actualize their aspirations.
Program Objectives
- To create a “Roadmap for Life” which is individualized for each student and help their families implement these solutions in a sustainable manner
- To provide skill-based training in all functional areas
- To transition the student towards independence or functioning with minimum support by scaffolding the learning processes and providing accommodations for learning.
- To find employment opportunities for students wherever possible – Open /Sheltered /Self Employment
- To develop a good working Lifespan oriented model for training persons on the spectrum that can be easily scaled and replicated.
Program Features
- Half day /Whole day program [Monday – Friday]
- 1-1 sessions and group sessions are included
- Focus on Engagement , Literacy and Communication and Lifeskills
- Process based Functional Curriculum - teaching strategies and adaptations customized to each individual student
- Detailed Intake assessment and constant review and of Individual learning needs and progress
- Positive behavioral supports in place like Sensory diets and breaks , Visual supports and Communication Aids
- Community exposure and interaction through activities like shopping , walking , cycling and outings to ensure a positive interaction with the mainstream community and build social awareness and empathy
- Bridging support for students who want to move to mainstream education and/or employment
- No enrollment criteria...we assess and take the student to the next level from wherever they are
Program Content
- Computer based skills like Data Entry and Content creation using Ms Office – Word , Excel , Power Point and Paint and Internet skills Google , Email , Social media
- Office Skills Printing , Xerox , Lamination ,Cutting ,Filing
- Food preparation including Meal planning ,Shopping Cooking and Baking
- Life skill training including Activities of Daily living , Housekeeping ,Laundry and Gardening
- Sports and Fitness training and Adventure activities and Treks
- Soft skill and Social skills training using Drama and Video modeling
- Exposure Music , Movement , Art based activities to discover abilities and interests which may lead to vocation or hobby
Achievements
- Some of aour trainees have moved on to Open Employment with a leading Software Companies , Some are Self employed or in Sheltered Employment
- Our student’s art work and digital art work have been exhibited in several National level exhibitions and won in many competitions
- Art based products are in demand all through the year – Paper bags , Fusion bead coasters , tie and dye stoles , Shibori material , Art based trays
- Laminated Teaching – Learning Materials such as PECs files , Schedule Boards , Calendar kit,Money kit , Flash cards have been made by our students and supplied to individual parents and professionals and institutions across the nation
- Interns contribute to internal canteen – cooking , baking and housekeeping on a daily basis – plan to open our own Café soon
